I decided to take a small break from getting through my hundreds and hundreds of messages to update my journal since the last one was nearly a month ago.
First off, New Orleans was amazing. We brought the Cleveland weather with us but it fled by the third day to give us sunny skies and slightly warmer weather--though I needed my jacket until Friday. (But let's not forget that I'm a wuss when it comes to cold temps) Let me just say that I am totally in love with Nawlins though. The pace down there was so much slower, the music that played from street corners, Jackson Square and the Market was enchanting and the architecture...oh the architecture. We spent the majority of our time in the French Quarter, did some very touristy things like visiting Brangelina's home and the Manning's house in the Garden District. I even was paparazzi for a moment when we saw Mos Def and I was able to get a close picture of him with my 18-55
[link] it was funny that we HEARD him first before we saw him.
The Bourbon Orleans Hotel was wonderful and the people great, though one surly hotel worker told me I couldn't take pictures of the hotel even after I said I was staying there. He said it didn't matter to which I defiantly muttered to my husband "That's bullshit, it's a public building, I can." I'm such a rebel! The beignets were to die for and I didn't want to come back. I really wish I had just enough money to be able to sit on Jackson Square all day and sell my photos. But alas, I have a minor materialistic streak in me and I like all my pretty things.

Photos and submissions will be slow from me--I only submit the highest of quality photos or the ones that I love the most to deviantArt and there are around 1400 photos for me to get through and process. I think I'll be uploading one or two shortly though...
Overall, if you ever have the opportunity, please spend a few days in Nawlins, I think you'll love the city as much as I do.
So if you saw my last submission of Dreamy Aspirations, then you know that I've rented a macro lens--the Nikon 105mm F2.8 micro. I can't say how much I love this lens. It's a toss up if I love it more than my 50mm 1.4 or not, but I think my 50mm still holds first in my heart because I have greater control over my aperture. But the 105mm is divine. I'll be taking it to the Orchidmania show in Cleveland this weekend to take some flower photos and if it performs how I'm now expecting it to...well, I think I'll probably be using my tax return to help pay for one of my own. It will never replace my first passion of photographing wild/zoo animals for sure, but it adds another aspect to my photography that I've always wondered if I'd enjoy doing. Sure enough...
I wrote in my journal once about my other passion--writing. It turns out that we're resurrecting the Wheel of Time site once more, albeit with a smaller admin base. But I admit to getting excited and I'll be helping to administrate it as write there so I've been working on a character and getting the old creaky writing joints working again. If anyone is a Wheel of Time fan and likes to write, I invite you to look at the beginnings of our site www.wheeloftimerp.net and we'll be opening it up soon when some final things are developed and worked out. I'm very excited to get back into that groove again, though I won't let it affect my photography.

That's all!! Thanks for reading and expect to start seeing photos filter in from me with Nawlins and macros as the subject!

Dean: You're like a walking encyclopedia of weirdness.
Sam: (Pause) Yeah, I know.
