A Momma's Love

This was my first visit to the Indianapolis Zoo ever and although the zoo isn't the largest out there (which surprised me given the size and importance of the city), I found that the exhibits they did have were very satisfying to stand and look at the animals. When I arrived at the giraffe enclosure, it was such a pleasure to not only see a baby giraffe out there with the adults, but the evident love the mother giraffe had for her baby (and vice versa). I took so many photos (as you'll see) of these two interacting with one another but this is my hands-down favorite of them all, capturing a completely sweet moment.

The giraffe is one of two living species of the family giraffidae, with the okapi being the other. The giraffe has evolved fro a 3 meter antelope like animal over generations.
