Taken at the Audubon Zoo - New Orleans, LA - Red fox
This is one photo that when I took it, I didn't have confidence that it would turn out. The background was too lit, the subject seemed to be too shadowed, but once I started processing it, I really began to fall in love with it. I love how the sunlight and shadows of the tree branches managed to perfectly frame the fox in light and shadow. It was such a happy accident but looks so lovely.
It did take a little work to get this salvaged, I had to do some recovery on the highlights and lighten the shadows and even then, don't hate me Watchers! I had to do some quick dodging of the face and part of the neck to cut away a little more shadows and make his face stand out. But even doing that, I'm happy with the overall effect. I hope you like it as much as I do!

Wonderful shot, and nice work in the post. Because the lighting varies through the photo, I wouldn't have suspected the dodging had you not mentioned it. I really like the contrast of the vertical screen texture in the background with the texture of the fur.
