Taken at the Cleveland MetroParks Zoo - Cleveland, OH
This was taken during a whirlwind spin through the Cleveland Zoo after its Volunteer Safari meet where I successfully interviewed to become a service volunteer there. Normally I'll walk past the baboons and see what they're doing but not take any photos, but this day I captured this moment where the female baboon is trying to attract the attention of the male.
It was a pseudo-difficult shot to get because to get this angle I had to be on one end of the exhibit, shooting probably at a 20 degree angle to the glass which can cause a lot of distortion. But it turned out and I liked how the shadows and light helped to fill and surround them while her hand is placed on the rock just so.
Thank you!! When I saw it, I was touched--the male is usually pacing around or being obnoxious while the female watches him or fiddles with something in the exhibit. Today I almost caught a human moment which always gets to me, especially with primates.
