Supple Shadows

There is sometimes a challenge in trying to keep a shot as minimalist as possible. Too much clutter can distract the eye from the focus, empty space and sometimes overwhelm the subject. I tried to keep this as simple as possible using my 105mm macro for a tight shot while still pulling back to give some empty space tying the shadows on the apple into the background. I like how it came out and am relatively pleased with the results.

I used no light except for natural light in this shot, the sun streaming through our window to the counter where the apple rested. Underexposing the shot a couple of stops also allowed for the already shadowed dining room to come across and nice and dark.
