Not Warp Speed Christmas

Description

I've always wanted to try this technique, but have never really had the proper subject and setting to do so. This shot was done entirely in the camera with only some very minor adjustments to the contrast on the photo, this was NOT the work of any sort of Photoshopping! Considering this was my first attempt at this technique I'm extremely pleased with the results and had the perfect setup with my Christmas tree and the ornament.

To do this, I set my camera up on a tripod with my 16-35 lens (having a zoom lens is a MUST), ISO down low at 200 and my aperture to F/16. After a test shot, the shutter speed of 8" seemed to be perfect, so I left the exposure as is. Starting at 35mm, I clicked the shutter then zoomed out to 16mm and then back in again to 35mm for the remainder of the exposure. In order to get the object in focus, I did need to make sure that at least 2-4" of the exposure was still on my subject, which left the other half of the exposure to zooming out and back in.

I love how this turned out! The reason for my title of this is because my husband tells me "Oh and I'm sure you'll call it Warp Speed Christmas on dA or something, right?" Nope. That isn't what I titled it at all!! :eyes:

I have to push myself back, and avoid being struck by the many amazing bolts of colored light coming at me! This looks like something inspired by the Google colors of the Nexus line of phones. It also reminds me of a firework as it just launched, but not finished launching. It's a stunning explosive masterpiece. The only complains are, it's not a flash of these lights coming at you in a spectacular 3D effect. Although this picture looks good from any angle, there are a bit of complaints. One of them is, this picture should have been created an converted to 3D just because it looks like it would make the launch of the first 3D art coming to computers. Next complaint to me, is the colors. I love the choice, but if you would bring out some purple and white, you'd be good, it'd make this rainbow of shining shooting lights complete. All in all, Spectacular piece. Keep up the good work!
